Hello,
We have 50K Windows client, 200 servers. For our Xerox Workcenter, we would like to use Samba to deploy the drivers and use CUPS logging capabilities. I am so desesperate to find any acceptable driver by Xerox, that i am testing a generic PS driver, not from Xerox.
We have tried a lot of drivers including Global Print Driver, but this sometimes does not work or at least manifestly dwarven printer capabilites. If not causing exception, because, yes, due to security settings, opeing printer properties dialog often rize exception, even with 'Domain Admin' priviledges.
Driver installation requires the intervention of the end user, which of course is not possible. In addition, the driver seems to make undocummented changes (it changes at least the registry) to the systems, in addition of installing the driver. After change, the installed driver is not suitable for Samba. Is there any way to install the printer driver silently? Is any way to make a massive deployement of a xerox printer driver with Samba, or do we have to concieve a parallel system of deployment?
I thing a propretary software from Xerox will certenly be more buggy, less standard and have less functionnality than Samba. Have Xerox concieved a way to massivelly deploy Xerox Workcenters? Where can be found the documentation?
Thank for your help.
