Is it possible to print to a 7556 by turning on appletalk? Most recent software has been installed, this is a newly manufactured unit just sold. Wifi network and wired network are same IP structure, but 7556 does not show available when user tries to print using iphone 7s...all answers appreciated...
How to Print from iphone 7s using Appletalk on 7556
Re: How to Print from iphone 7s using Appletalk on 7556
iPhones use Airprint, not Appletalk. The 75XX printers don't support Airprint.
Re: New Mac OS Driver v 4.9.0(1931) problems with El Capitan
Since you believe the firmware on the printer is the issue, just call Xerox and have them format the printer completely and then load whatever firmware you have proved to work.
The fact it happens to every single printer with a Xerox 4.X driver completely negates that of course, as does the fact that simply removing the 4.X driver and installing a 3.X driver brings it (Xerox Features) back, as does the fact that plugins from every single print manufacturer that supports accounting has exactly the same issue.
But since I am wrong at all of that, and you know for certain that the printer firmware is the problem, all you need to do is have the printer downgraded, and since you spoke to 2nd level support already, there is no cost, only people with active maintenance agreements have access to 2nd level, which means onsite hardware techs are 100% covered by your agreement, and that tech is the one who will do the downgrade and wipe (You want to wipe it because you can't be certain that no newer firmware content is left behind to get in the way)
Here is the complete list of firmware versions for your 4265 including their release dates, the tech can obtain whichever one you want.

Re: WC 7830; Select between color/bw while using Linux/CUPS ppd
1. Install 2 printers with the same PPD, then go into CUPS and set if it is BW or color, name each according to whether or not it is color.
2. Remove color from the PPD and save it as a different named, then install a printer named BW using it (Or just completely lie and install a 78XX using the 58XX driver (same printer but BW only)
3. Install the Debian packages (Intel or i686)
4. Completely recode a PPD using the official PDL documentation
Re: Requires media in Bypass tray and jaming issue
After installing the machine and loading plain A4 papers in tray 1 (it only has tray 1 and bypass) I immediately started getting errors on the machine. The start up page would not print because there was no papper in the bypass tray and for some reason it required A4 paper to be loaded both the tray 1 and in the bypass tray. This continued to be the case until I managed to change the report printing setting "Paper supply" to tray 1 instead of the default Auto. Tray 1 really should be A4 PLAIN LEF at the copier, if you change it to anything else, it tends to cause exactly the issue you describe here. Physically it will look like this
And on screen, make sure it is A4 plain white and that the icon matches the portrait orientation just like it is in the tray n the picture above, anything else will cause failures
For regular printing from the computer, anything but explicitly specifying tray 1 for media will not print with the same error as above, the job requires A4 media loaded in both tray 1 and the bypass tray.
This will automagically be fixed via the above, else you will need to change the printing preferences to match whatever you have set that isn't per the above. Since you appear to be using a Mac, this would either have to be done via a preset, or via CUPS, unlike a windows driver where they can be set in a straightforward manner.
What I want the printer to do is only take media from the bypass tray if the bypass tray is loaded and the loaded media fits the print job. In all other cases it should default to tray 1 and print plain A4. I've set the default paper size to A4 and also set "When specified paper is unavailable" to "Print Letter/A4 substitution". Whatever setting I try for the trays I can't get this to work or at least not the throw deacribed above and refuse to print.
This is covered by the above
Also everytime I load plain A4 into the bypass tray with the short side towards the machine ("portrait orientation") the paper jams in the machine. Loading them with the long side towards the machine ("landscape orientation") seems to work though. You have that backwards, Landscape is Short edge feed, Portrait is Long edge feed. The name comes from photography Portrait is how a picture is taken of a person (taller than it is wide), Landscape is for Scenery (Wider than it is tall). See here. It jams because you did it backward, it expects to have to feed 8.27 inches of paper, when it senses paper still there after 8.27 it stops the feed, because it thinks the paper is feeding slower than it should (but in reality there is in fact 11.69 inches of paper to feed). In this case, it doesn't jam, it simply stops feeding, but it declares a jam because it assumes there is one.
024-747 Error code half way thru the job
Hello
I am getting intermitently my jobs cancel at different point and get a 24-747. I read that it could be a setting on the PDF when printing. The weird thing is that I can send 5 sets of a 783 page document and get 2 sets perfectly printed and then on the 3rd it stops half way with this error. Any clues what it could be?
Thanks!
Windows 10 pro printing issue with Altalink C8050
Hi
since a few days two of my users are having issues printing from their laptops. Laptops are Win10 x64 pro, printer is connected directly via TCP/IP port.
Other users, also Windows 10 x64, are not having any trouble printing to the device.
It seems some kind of driver or communication issue on printing level. On both devices we can see the status of the printer with the printer tooling software. When we send a print job to the printer it go's into the Windows printer queue and gets status, printing. Then after a minute we do get an error stating, Windows could not print and the print job goes into error state.
I tried several things already;
reinstall printer on device
remove all TCP/IP printing ports and recreate them manualy
install printer manualy
install printer with tooling from Xerox website
remove all printer drivers via 'Print server'
install printer with Xerox Smart Start (version 1.1.32.0.exe)
Printer installs fine, is available and online. We print a document and after a minute the job goes into error. We are at the end of our most common solutions. Please be so kind to help us out with this issue.
Thanks in advance
Rikke
Re: Windows 10 pro printing issue with Altalink C8050
Hi,
Try this and hope to solve youyr issue:
Most of the issues with non printing jobs and „Offline” messages are from driver settings.
First check to see if there is no job in the print queue (delete any job if exist).
As per Joe053204-xrx advice check the port to be on TCP/IP and not WSD. MS convert the port to WSD. If it is so, click right on the print driver and click on „Printer Properties”, click on „Ports” tab, click on „Add port”, select „Standard TCP/IP port” , click on „New port” and set an IP and in the next window click „Finish”.
After that click again on ''Ports'' tab click on "Configure port" and change from RAW to LPR, at the Queue name write "lp" and be sure to unchecked "LPR Byte Counting Enable" and "SNMP Status Enabled".

Very slow printing
My Phaser 6510 started printing very slow. It takes hours to start to print any jobs that I want printed
I have windows 10 version 10.0.17134 build 17134
I have the latest drivers loaded, as well I updated the bios to the latest version.
it is installed on my network and I have same issue no matter what PC I use
Re: Very slow printing
Hi,
Try to change the port:
Right click on Driver, click on "Printer Properties", click on ''Ports'' tab click on "Configure port" and change from RAW to LPR, at the Queue name write "lp" and be sure to unchecked "LPR Byte Counting Enable" and "SNMP Status Enabled".

Re: WC 7830; Select between color/bw while using Linux/CUPS ppd
Thank you for your answer.
The fundamental problem is that there is no way I can tell the printer that I want a Color document printed in black and white through the PPD. The only way you can do that is by changing global settings on CWIS, which requires the administrator to give random users acces to the machine's setup. That will surely end up badly.
Option 1 could work for another printer, but the 7830 will print the document in color regardless of what the driver says. Option 2 is very clever. However, I tried it, and it doesn't work. The printer will do his thing regardless. Option 3 fails because thew OS will refuse to install the software. That problem was reported elsewhere in the forum. Option 4 seems to have the same problem as option 1.
The annoying part is that you can print the exact same document, in the same format through the CWIS "print" tab with full access to all the machine's features, including color selection.
Re: Windows 10 pro printing issue with Altalink C8050
Hi Gabi
the port is on TCP/IP.
I did try to alter the settings from RAW to LPR and made sure the checkboxes where unticked. The queue name is set to 'lp'
This did not solve the issue.
any further ideas? This realy is a tought fish to catch tbh.
kind regards
R
Re: Using a finisher to fold a tabloid size paper and also print mass mailing addresses onto the tab
I HAD a similar (or same?) problem...
I wanted to print an 11x17 newsletter with a fold. The machine would print a stack of them all tucked into each other and fold at once. No bueno...
My solution was to go into the print dialog box and UNCHECK the "Collate" feature.
Now each page prints and folds separately. Voila!

Re: WC 7830; Select between color/bw while using Linux/CUPS ppd
It's too bad I can't replicate that, it all works just fine here.
CUPS just works, the job prints BW because I set it as the default within CUPS
Re: Windows 10 pro printing issue with Altalink C8050
Drivers don't stop a job getting to a printer, they only stop it printing correctly after it gets there.
But to verify this, install the printer with an HP Lazerjet 4 driver, this will insure no possibility of Xerox software/driver being the cause. Be sure to use the same exact port.
You could also verify it is an issue in the print spooler simply enough. Take a document (pdf) and use Print to File. Which will have the job spooled and printed to a print ready file on the PC, at no point will the printer be communicated with. Open EWS and submit the print ready file to the printer. If it prints, it isn't the driver, or the printer, or the Windows spooler. It has to be a network/firewall issue with RAW/LPR
You could also take that file, or any random pdf, and submit it from the commandline in Windows to the printer
by enabling LPR. Once that is done run this from the command prompt by typing lpr -S 13.226.176.65 -P print "C:\1.pdf"
Of course the IP will be that of your printer, and the path/file will be whatever your files name and location is.
Re: 024-747 Error code half way thru the job
24-747 is a media fault, typically its a lie, sometimes its real, it would usually be because somewhere in the code, something asks for an impossibility (thing 11*17 portrait, or to staple the side of the job that comes out of the finisher first). It is near always because people use this thing here
Instead of this thing here
The printer will lose the settings during a large job/run.
Also, if a PS driver, set this to Send for each page
Re: WC 7830; Select between color/bw while using Linux/CUPS ppd
Thanks again for your help!
Well, that is very interesting. No wonder I couldn't make sense out of it. We're seeing completely different things.
I am using the PPD out of the Xerox download page for the 7830. I ran the executable and copied the 7830 PPD over to the Linux machine. As you can see below, there are barely any options available in each tab.
Are we using different PPD's? Or is it something else?
will not print
Greetings folks, I am getting this message on my printer screen "Check PrimaryNet". Anyone know what that means? Tech supports leaves me on hold forever even though I have a reference number. I need to print!!
Re: WC 7830; Select between color/bw while using Linux/CUPS ppd
Ughh, it's possible someone had already installed the proper driver, so it linked the added features when I used the ppd. (Test lab, no way to know what someone else has done to the little linux test bed.)
If you want to retry the debian driver , try the following steps. They require in some part root access, be careful.
This method was/is required in CUPS 2.2
- Install the driver package, in my case I use ubuntu one. It will create a bunch of files in /opt/Xerox/prtsys
- navigate to that directory: cd /opt/Xerox/prtsys
- as root, copy the file XeroxQScript in /usr/lib/share/cups/filters: sudo cp XeroxQScript /usr/lib/share/cups/filters
- replace XeroxQScript with a dummy ppd file containing the following 4 lines
- *PPD-Adobe: "4.3"
- *cupsFilter: "application/postscript 0 /usr/lib/cups/filter/XeroxQScript"
- *cupsFilter: "application/pdf 0 /usr/lib/cups/filter/XeroxQScript"
- replace XeroxXSF with a dummy ppd file containing:
- *PPD-Adobe: "4.3
- *cupsFilter: "text/plain 0 -"
- Run as root xeroxprtmgr and add the printer
*PPD-Adobe: "4.3"
*cupsFilter: "text/plain 0 -"
6- Run as root xeroxprtmgr and add the printer!
